How often should I have my horse teeth checked?

We will normally check your horse’s teeth when they come in for their annual vaccination. Common dental problems include plaque and tartar build up, gingivitis, periodontal disease, loose, worn and broken teeth.

Equine dentistry (also sometimes referred to as ‘floating’ the teeth) should be a regular part of preventative health care for all Horses and Ponies. Horses teeth grow throughout their life so yearly veterinary dental check-ups are essential to maintain good dental health and to treat dental disease in horses just as it is in our other smaller, furry family members.
